Forks To Aberdeen

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I have discovered that sometimes after riding all day, I lack the energy to update the blog.  Here is my ride from Forks to Aberdeen,  However, after almost 70 miles, I used the Gray Harbors County bus system to travel the last approximately 40 miles.  Problem is, there are no towns to stay in between Forks and Aberdeen, and 110 miles is a long day.  I debated to on not taking the bus, but I would have arrived in Aberdeen well after 9 PM, and I wanted a relaxing evening to have a decent diner.  Therefore, I only rode from Forks to Amanda Parks near Lake Quunault, then hopped on the bus.

Port Angeles to Forks

59 miles to Forks.

Port Angeles to Forks: nice and slow 59 mile day.  Saving my energy for tomorrow, which will be the longest day of the entire trip: 109 miles to Aberdeen.  Wind was picking up today, made for a few grueling miles.
Olympic National Park - One of the many reasons why I live in Washington state.

10 miles of reprieve from the 101: Forrest road with no traffic.  If only the whole trip was like this

Elevation Profile: 3055 feet of climbing.  I don't remember the second half of the day being mostly downhill.

Cyclemeter Cycle (Road) Aug 10, 2011 10:57:22 AM

Seattle to Port Angeles

The adventure begins.  Seattle to San Diego on a bicycle.  I started from home in Seattle this morning and made it to Port Angeles.  Today's ride was relatively uneventful, as it is a ride I have already done many times.  For August, it is relatively cold here in the Northwest.  Tomorrow's destination is Forks.

Waiting for the Ferry

Leaving Seattle via Ferry

Arriving on Bainbridge Island

Port Angeles: Where the Mountains Meet the Sea

Cold ride for August
4300 ft of climbing in 76 miles while staying close to sea level for the entire ride - very hilly
